    Bummed

Great and stylish pack, however I was really bummed that a few days after my purchase, the packs went on a 30% off sale. I’m bummed because I had reached out to customer service before my purchase asking about promotions/ percentages off my purchase, and I was not informed that the pack would soon be going on sale. I had saved up to purchase this pack, which I really enjoy, but was really disappointed that this information had been withheld from me after specifically reaching out to ask about it

    Useful, but has design flaws

I started CrossFit over the summer and am really enjoying it. My state just went into another Covid lockdown (wear your masks, people!), and I didn't want to lose any of the progress I've made so I purchased an EmPack. It's a great idea, but not yet well-executed.

As many other reviews have stated, you cannot roll down the top all the way if you put all four water reservoirs in it. So the top flares out and because of the heavy duty material, it tends to scrape arms and legs or just gets in the way.

The handles on the top aren't perfectly centered, especially if you have four reservoirs in it. This makes exercises like snatches or overhead squats much more precarious. Snatches are also difficult because the handles are too close together - my hands end up being only slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Also, if there are four reservoirs inside and you try using both the top and the bottom handles, the top starts to unroll because again, you can't cinch it down all the way.

Lastly, one of the reservoirs I received leaks.

Overall, it's a good tool to have if you're like me and only have a tiny space to workout in and minimal funds for investing in exercise gear. I've been using the EmPack for front squats, lunges, deadlifts, cleans, and bent over rows. I'm disappointed that the website says you can fit four reservoirs in it, but to have it be truly functional, you can only fit three in. I also doubt I'll use it as a backpack since there's no waistbelt.

I think a few more design iterations and this product will be top notch.

    Comes in handy

This is a handy way to lift with minimal equipment, but definitely bulkier than using dumbbells or kettlebells, so some movements require minor adjustments. My only issue is it's tough to get all 4 reservoirs inside, and when they are I can only fold the top 2 times (instead of 3), so then the top flares out a bit and it feels uneven. I haven't used it yet as a backpack. I love the colors (I got lava)!

    Still haven’t received it

Would love to review it...but it hasn’t arrived yet. But I have no doubt it’s fantastic!!!

    Well built

This is a well built pack. It's tough, I like roll top, the pockets, the different handles to lift it in different positions. This will be a great travel pack. I would probably have bought it just for that use. To able to work out with it's even better. Unfortunately I haven't gotten any workout plan with it. I thought I would also receive exercises to go with it. But easy enough to make up my own I guess.

Hi Jennifer! So happy to hear you are enjoying the bag! Now that you have purchased the bag you will be receiving weekly workouts via our newsletter! If you are interested in a workout plan that can be found on our website as well!

    Helpful FAQs

    • How much weight does each reservoir add?

15 pounds when filled with water and up to 20 filled with sand. Remember that water is an unstable weight and will automatically feel heavier than your general static weight that you use in the gym. It adds a new element of stability training and proprioception (teaching your body to adapt to new surroundings) that will challenge your body in a whole new way.

    • How many reservoirs does a pack hold?

      OG Empack - 4 (comes with 2)

      Wander - 2

      Nomad - 1 + a hydration pack

You can always buy extra reservoirs!

    • Is there a workout guide that comes with my pack?

We want you to use this baby! With every purchase we send a WORKOUT PDF GUIDE that you can use right away. We also have weekly workouts sent on our newsletter. Looking for more? We offer a 6 Week Get Strong Program on the website that was written specifically for the EmPack. It is great for traveling, in-home workouts and making the world your gym.

    • How durable are the packs?

The Empack uses the highest quality military grade 1000D, water-resistant Cordura with double backed bindings, straps, and handles to make this pack long lasting and fit for all your needs.

    • How do you transition the EmPack from a backpack to a training pack?

The transition is simple: take off the shoulder straps (unless using as a weighted vest) and tighten the front area by pulling the straps snug. Hold onto the pack's handles and use it like dumbbells or a kettlebell.

    • What are the best ways to use my Empack?

The packs are super versatile! Use it for work or travel and easily transition it to a weightlifting tool for strength training. The smallest pack (the Nomad) is also a great sized pack for trail running, hiking, and mountain biking.
